Squamish, a small town with almost 15.000 inhabitants is about an hour to drive in the north of Vancouver city. My host from Vancouver, Marika, invited me to join her and her friends to a festival and a hiking trip. We spent a nice time on a kind of reggae festival surrounded by beautiful mountains and a big calm lake. We stayed in a tent and on the next day, we went on a hiking trip. It took nearly a hole day, but it was great!
Getting there
After visiting Vancouver city, my host invited me to join her on a trip to Squamish, which is in the north of Vancouver city. We went by car with one of her friends from France. The way to get there was drop-dead gorgeous as we were driving on a serpentine-road next to the Pacific ocean. The weather was just perfect! After a while, we arrived in Squamish.

On this festival, also local people were performing! Those on the picture are aged between 15 and 17!
It was a kind of a reggae festival, as you can see on the picture!

But I was not the only one :-)
Conclution
After hiking, we were swimming in a (very cold) lake:
Beautiful but cold - cold but beautiful
Squamish is (I guess) an old lumberjack town. As you still can see some old relicts
Surface marker buoy - out of order
barbwire and a flower
Our gang :-)
As you can see, it was great fun! See you guys somewhere, sometime!
If you plan going to Canada, you should defenitly visit Vancouver and the region in the north of it!
On that trip I got the information to book a tour to see the National Parks of Canada
