Not very far from Toronto - just a few hours - you can find the Niagara Falls: Horseshoe Falls and American Falls. Those world-famous falls are in fact not very tall (58 meters), but edge length is long: 792m and 363m. The name "Niagara" pronunciation is said to originate from an Iroquoian word Onguiaahra meaning "Thunder of Waters"
As the Niagara Falls are only 1,5 hours away from Toronto, I was going there for a day trip.
The giant Niagara Falls
There are actually two waterfalls, the American and the Horseshoe falls:
American Falls - The smaller one
Horseshoe Falls - The big one
As they are world-famous, they told tourists to prepare themselfs for a photograph! What a nice information :-)
This is a picture I REALLY like
I booked a boat-tour: "Maid of the Mist". It is itself also famous: They go directly into the spindrift of the waterfall!

Approching the Horseshoe Falls
You get wet very easily there as you can imagine :-) Anyway it was a hot day so I can't complain at all.
After the boat trip, I went up to Niagara River to see the waterfall from the top.

Me at the Niagara Falls
You can divide the city of Niagara falls into two parts: A "Disneyland for adults", because of all the casinos, bars and this kind of stuff and a ghost town, where no one is walking arround. Like this the Disney part of the city:
"Disneyland for adults": Casinos, hotels and restaurants - This is one part of the city of Niagara Falls
The other part was almost empty, but I found a cafe house called "Graz" - Which is in fact Austria's second largest city!
Cafe Graz - Just for information: Graz is Austrias second largest city :-)
As I had some time, I was walking to the U.S.A just for fun...
I was walking to U.S.A. - Just for fun :-)
... at the border I had an interessting conversation with the border patrolman:
Partrolman: "Where do you want to go in the US?"
Me: "Just arround the corner!"
Partrolman: "How much time do you want to spend in the Unted States of America?"
Me: "About half an hour"
~~ the patrolman looked puzzled ~~
Partrolman: "You have to fill out a form to enter the US!"
Me: "Okay..."
Patrolman: "That costs you six US dollar!"
As I wasn't interested to pay six dollars and storing all my personal information including my thumbprints, just for going arround the corner, I decided to abdicate to go to US.
Me: "Ah ok, I go back to Canada - I am not interessted!"
~~ The patrolman was making a handicapped face and I left the US again after 10 minutes beeing there ~~~
While I was waiting for the bus, a cute girl was asking "Kukuxumusu?". It took a while to realize what she meant: She, her name was Andrea, had the same motive on her T-shirt as I had on my cap. She also bought her T-shirt in Barcelona as I did with my cap :-)
Andrea - The girl with a good taste for choosing T-Shirts ;-)
The day after, I went directly to Vancouver - So check my blog soon
