Vancouver is one of the nicest cities I visited on my trip through Canada. It is Canada's third largest city anyway. I spent plenty much time in Vancouver and the region, as my cs-hostess and her friends organized many parties :-) I actually had two hosts there, because I didn't excpect that I get two postive answers from two requests I wrote. It was really nice to be there!
Getting there
I flew directly from Toronto to Vancouver. The price was okay, but Canada should have more low-budget airlines! Anyway, on the plane I saw a documentation about an airplane accident. Well it was not the official tv-program of the flight, but it was possible to watch normal television, and so it happend that the Discovery Channel was broadcasting this documentation ;-)

Sights
The city - with about 2,18 million people living there (within the Greater Vancouver Regional District) - has a small downtown, which you can easily explore in a day.

The downtown with it's famous area "Gastown" became it's name by "Gassy" Jack, who opened the first pub in Vancouver.

I really liked to stay at the city there. As I had good company, it was even better. The city is charming, even if there are no "world-famous sights", I spent most of the time in this area.

Party
It was the longest day of the year: 21st of June. A good reason to celebrate a party!
My hostess and her friends and me went to Stanley Park and had a really cool time :-)

I really had good company there! We did so much, I was never bored at all! Marika and her friends were very hospitable. We also went out to Squamish for a festival and a hiking day :-) Thank you very much for the good time I had :-)
